Cabrales Cheese

Cabrales cheese - Asturias

Introducing Asturias and its renowned blue cheese: Quesu Cabrales, a traditional artisan product which hails from the county of Cabrales in the heart of the Picos de Europa. Made year round from cow’s milk, this tasty cheese is unique in that, whenever available, cow, sheep, and goat’s milks are used in combination to create the characteristic aromas and flavours of Cabrales, one of the best blues in the world.

Traditionally, the villages of Tielve and Sotres are known for their excellent Cabrales Cheese. In recent years, dairies all over the county have begun to make a name for themselves as well.

7th Annual Corn and Flour Culinary Festival in Llanes

7th Annual Corn and Flour Culinary Festival in Llanes

Llanes is a small fishing village in Eastern Asturias. It’s one of those uniquely charming places, which is always a joy to visit. This year, as they’ve done for the past six, the village is celebrating its 7th Annual Corn and Flour Culinary Festival.

A consolidated tradition in local gastronomy, the use of this particular type of flour, corn flour, allows for the creation of true delicacies, such as borona (stuffed corn bread), tortos (corn chapattis) or pantruque (corn dumplings with flavourful filling), all of which may be sampled at the many restaurants which participate in the festival each year.
